{the chocolate chip cookies *pink* photo shoot debut}

{applause, applause} {blush}

ah, the classic chocolate chip cookie, with hundreds of recipes with its own unique twists. so, why stop now right? as a lover of adding new twisties, lets add another one. if you're a purist, then this is not the recipe for you!

Recipe softly twisted from kissmyspatula and jacques torres
Ingredients
8 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
1 cup, plus 2 tbsp all purpose flour
1/2 + 1/8 tsp baking soda
3/4 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. kosher salt {other recipes call for more salt}
1/2 + 1/8 cup light brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 large egg, at room temperature
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup rolled oats
1/4 cups chopped almonds
1/2 tsp orange zest
1/2 bag of 11.5 oz Ghiradelli 60% cocoa chips
chop up some werther's originals caramels
coconut flakes (handful)
marshmallows (handful)

instructions
1. sift flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt into a bowl. Set aside.
2. use mixer to cream together the butter and sugars. add egg (if doubling recipe, add in one at a time). stir in the vanilla.
3. reduce your mixer to low speed {unless you want to be covered in flour. hee}, add the dry ingredients and mix for a couple seconds. add in the rolled oats, almonds, coconut flakes and orange zest.
4. hand mix the chocolate chips, marshmallows, and caramels
5. press plastic wrap against the dough and refrigerate for 24-36 hours {still haven't figured out what that does...}
6. when ready to bake, preheat your oven to 325 degrees. remove the cookie dough from the fridge and allow it to sit for 15 minutes or so.
7. scoop the mounds of cookie dough onto the baking mat. i would flatten the cookies before baking since i found that the mound tends to rise and is a little bit too thick/puffy to my liking...bake for about 10-15 minutes. let cool slightly and serve the cookies while warm with gooey chocolate, {alongside a glass of milk or cup of coffee}

tip: a fun way to make different flavored cookies - grab one mound of cookie dough and smash in coconuts in one cookie. grab another mound and smash in some caramels. grab another mound and smash in some caramels, coconuts, and marshmallows. etc. finished product: different flavored cookies. {as cookie monster would say: yumumumumumumum}
